The Eye opens, and the Legions return...

Listen up, Guardsmen of the Draconian Armored Defense Force!

The Eye of Terror has opened and daemonic forces are flooding into the fortress world of Cadia. It is up to us to halt their advance, for if they have their way, they will smash a bloody path through the segmentum toward Holy Terra itself. If they reach the Emperor, the Imperium and all of Mankind will be doomed.

As such, you will all be issued a copy detailing the Traitor Legions. Those who do not belong to the Draconian Imperial Guard unit will have to order their own copy. According to this data site in the noosphere, the codex supplement Traitor Legions is up for pre-order. If you're a good citizen of the Imperium, you will pre-order yours today.

Remember, always have faith in the Emperor and never lend a ear to those twisting, lying words of the Great Enemy. We will prevail over the Traitor Legions and make sure they regret the day they turn their backs on the light of the Emperor. Now march on, my brothers, and let us save Cadia in these darkest of times!

Pre-Orders of Thousand Sons up!

The Official Games Workshop website has finally opened up the pre-orders for War Zone Fenris: Wrath of Magnus and all the other Thousand Sons units! You can order the hardback for War Zone Fenris: Wrath of Magnus here.

War Zone Fenris: Wrath of Magnus (Hardback)

Even better, for those who want to start up a Thousand Sons army there is no better way than to buy the entire collection of New Releases in one go! You can order the Thousand Sons New Releases here. It includes the book I just mentioned above, Magnus himself, Ahriman, 3 Exalted Sorcerers, 5 Scarab Occult Terminators, 10 Rubric Marines and 10 Tzaangors. Get them all and unleash the psychic fury of the Thousand Sons! WOOHOO! For Prospero!
Thousand Sons New Releases

I'm so looking forward to getting my hands on the book! Obviously as a student without any means of transport or a wargaming place nearby, I can't afford to buy the sweet-looking models, so I just went with buying the book. I've pre-ordered Wrath of Magnus itself, and I look forward to providing a review and analysis of the rules, lore and everything, as I did for War Zone Damocles: Mont'ka last year. We shall see! After that, I don't know what I'll do, but I might buy a box of models every month or so, or wait until summer. As I said, I have no idea. Or I'll just wait until I return to Singapore before buying them. Hmm...who knows? As I said, we shall see. Kind of weird not being able to get anything here because I can't have wargaming here. Oh well.

Let's get our revenge on those damned Space Wolves for burning Prospero and remain secretly loyal to the Emperor!

Looking forward to Wrath of Magnus

Warhammer Community has just posted this up, and oh my Emperor...

ts-1
Exalted Sorcerers

First up, we have our Exalted Sorcerers, each more powerful than a Space Marine Librarian. If you thought your Dark Angel Librarian in Space Hulk: Deathwing was badass, you're sorely mistaken. These Exalted Sorcerers are where it's at! Pyschic phase, psychic phase and even more psychic phases! A handful of these guys will dominate the psychic phase for you!

Rubric Marines

Next up, we have the Rubric Marines! Remember their cool catchphrase, "all is dust"? You can't embody that better than these guys! Each squad is led by an Aspiring Sorcerer, and they have some fancy new tricks and abilities not seen in the regular Chaos Space Marines codex! I can't wait to read the extra new rules they have in the Traitor Legions codex and Wrath of Magnus book! This will be awesome!

And last but not least, we have the Scarab Occult Terminators, who's supposedly a long-range unit. Not only that, the Sorcerer leading the Terminator unit is a full-fledged sorcerer in his own right, not an Aspiring one. That makes him even deadlier with his psyker abilities! I wonder what they can do with their weapons and stuff!

This will be awesome! I think I'll buy the Wrath of Magnus and analyze the formations when it's out!

Space Hulk Deathwing beta update!

As promised, whenever Space Hulk: Deathwing updates, I'll be here to bring you the news! And so it is here!

The Space Hulk: Deathwing official Facebook page has posted on its development blog about the latest beta updates. The post is titled Beta Survival Guide and Community Update, so it's...well, about the beta and how to survive against the waves of Genestealers. That's quite the steal, eh?

Nothing much to talk about - it's better if you just click on the link and view it for yourself, but basically it teaches you how to use the beta, like server lobby, game lobby, chat with teammates, choose your class, etc. And apparently if your whole squad dies, you get a placeholder. What? Yeah, I know. As I said, read the link for more details.

If more news on Thousand Sons and Space Hulk: Deathwing comes in, I'll keep you guys posted!

Madness?! No, this is MAGNUS!

As I promised, I'll be posting about Thousand Sons news and information! And so you have it, the latest post featured on the Warhammer Community website!

Not much to say unless you want me to repeat what you can read on Warhammer Community, so just click on the link above and read it if you want. I guess the important points are that Magnus is as large as an Imperial Knight (NOOO!!!! My Imperial Knights!). Obviously he's going to be your Lord of War and has at least 15 Psychic powers including the Gaze of Magnus, which apparently is hinted to be a Strength D spell.

His stats are apparently WS7, BS7, S8, T7, W7, I7, A6, LD 10 and an armor save of 4+. He certainly likes a lot of 7s, huh...(I thought Thousand Sons were 9, but I could be mistaken). Don't mind the pathetic Armor Save because he gets a 4++ invulnerable save and his crown allows him to re-roll failed saves of ones. Even better, the post includes news of the new Thousand Sons Detachment (which I'm so looking forward to!) that further bolsters this invulnerable save. Awesome!

The drawback, of course, is that he's going to cost a lot. I bet he'll be more expensive than an Imperial Knight (in terms of points). If you want to include him, you probably will not be able to include much other units. Maybe a couple of Rubric Marine squads, a Sorcerer enclave, one squad of Scarab Terminators, and squeeze in a Dreadnaught, and that's about it.

New Forge World Knight

Being a fan of Imperial Knights, it's up to me to keep you guys up to date on the latest Imperial Knight news! And I hope I don't disappoint because I almost missed this one!

Apparently the Warhammer 40K Community has just posted this on their website! We have a new Forge World Imperial Knight, specifically the Acastus Knight Porphyrion (uh...what's with all these weird and fancy names? I miss the simpler names of Paladin, Errant, Warden, Gallant and Crusader - all the Forge World Knights have quite the fancy names like...Magaera and Atrapos)!

knight-1

He doesn't come with a melee weapon like the Reaper Chainsword we're all so familiar with for our usual Imperial Knights. Instead, he's equipped with not one but TWO twin-linked Magna-lascannons, and an Ironstorm battery of missiles (probably different from the Ironstorm Missile Pod, from the looks of it). And apparently another couple of autocannons because why the hell not?

knight-2
Look at all those big guns! Drools...

knight-3
I can stare at this bad boy forever...

Apparently, the Acastus Knight Porphyrion will be available to order on Forge World very soon. When? I have no idea. But take note he's a Forge World product, so don't go to the wrong website and wonder why the official Games Workshop website doesn't have him listed there.

To arms, my brothers! Knights of the Imperium, we march!

Codex Supplement: Traitor Legions

Sorry for being late again! But this is the latest trailer just in from Warhammer TV!

It's the latest teaser for the Codex Supplement: Traitor Legions...and guess what? It's going to be released on 3rd December! That's about 2 weeks away, guys! Prepare yourselves! The Warp is coming, and Chaos will descend upon us all! Draconian Guardsmen! Draconian Armor! Imperial Knights of Draconis! We shall stand against this tide of Chaos and purge the Emperor's galaxy clean of these Traitor scum! Unite our forces with our brothers-in-arms of the Adeptus Mechanicus, for they will send a Skitarii legion and a Titan Maniple! Together, there is nothing Chaos can do but die before the fury of our God-Emperor!

FOR THE EMPEROR!

Okay, Imperium biasness aside, this looks to be an exciting release, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the Thousand Sons and other Traitor Legions! I want to gget my hands on those rules and write up an analysis for you guys! I'll be focusing primarily on the Thousand Sons (obviously), but if I like what I see for the others, I might write about them too. We'll see. I mean, Iron Warriors are the closest legion to the Dark Mechanicum, so I might check them out for armor convoys. Not that I'll play these guys, but you know what I mean...I'll definitely find a way to incorporate Thousand Sons into my army at some point of time, but we'll see. Sigh...no money, no talk. Well even without money, I can still update my hobby blog, so I might as well.

War is coming. With all its glory, and all its horror. Knights of the Imperium, your freedom awaits.

Traitor Legions and Imperial Agents!

All is dust..ahem...as I was saying, there's quite a lot of news regarding the Thousands Sons today. Apparently the Warhammer Community website has just released a post chock full of good news!

Guess what's the first thing that caught my eye? That's right...the Traitors Legion codex supplement and Imperial Agents codex! Not only that, we have two Apocrypha, one being Index Imperialis and the other Index Chaotica!

Lastly it seems we have new battleforces that builds upon the Start your Army! campaign that began last year, allowing you to expand your armies further!

So we have Tau Empire, Adeptus Mechabicus, Space Wolves and Deathwatch! I'm sure more factions will receive their battleforces so if you don't see your favorite faction here, please be patient! Remember, the Emperor rewards those who waits faithfully!

New Ahriman Model

As promised, I'm here to update you once the new Ahriman model hits. And hit it did, as the Warhammer 40K community website has just posted about the new Ahriman model about 20 minutes ago (at time of this writing)!

So there you have it. Apparently, Ahriman has been one of the most notorious villains in Warhammer 40K (I don't think he's a villain, though - he's a hero through and through!). He's pretty famous for turning his battle brothers into Rubric Marines for one thing, and incurring the wrath of Magnus. Poor guy just doesn't catch a break.

There's also a pre-Heresy version of Ahriman in the Burning of Prospero boxset that has already been released, and you can compare the two versions above! Pretty cool, huh?

I'll let you guys know when more news of the Thousand Sons is released! For the Emperor!

The Legion Unveiled!

Oh my goodness. Just when I thought I was up to date on the Thousand Sons, I came across this post by the Warhammer 40K Community. Check out the actual page itself for more details, I'm just going to give a brief run-through as a Thousand Sons fan.

The Warhammer Community has a full-length post featuring the Thousand Sons! Specifically the Rubric Marines and the Scarab Occult Terminators, plus the Tzaangors (which I personally am not very enthusiastic about)! Please check them out! They also have the Sorcerers, who are said to be more powerful than the Space Marines' weak-blooded Librarians, because they've been steeped in 10,000 years of arcane lore and blessed by the master of Fate himself (Tzeentch if you haven't already guessed).

I can't wait! This is going to be an exciting release for Thousand Sons fans! Not only that, Warhammer Community promises another post on the new Ahriman model!

ts-rubrics2
Rubric Marines!

For those of you familiar with the lore, the Rubric Marines are the awesome Thousand Sons Space Marines who...only have dust in place of their physical bodies inside their armor. Thanks to Magnus's madness, the Thousand Sons were afflicted with some sort of Tzeentch curse that mutated them uncontrollably, turning them into disgusting monsters or whatever. Appalled by the lack of concern on Magnus's part and desperate to save his battle brothers, Ahriman conducted a forbidden ritual with some Magnus or Tzeentch grimoire that he's not supposed to place his hands on (I'm simplifying it). The spell successfully cured the battle brothers of the mutation affliction, but...ended up turning all their bodies into dust.

So they have this new warcry, "all is dust", a chilling but awesome line, whenever they march toward their foes! And I think they all have that awesome 4++ invulnerable save thanks to the Mark of Tzeentch, but I could be mistaken. I have to wait for the rules.
ts-occult
Scarab Occult Terminators!

By the way, the Scarab Occult Terminators apparently have hints of the Tartarus pattern armor from the Horus Heresy - if you remember the Burning of Prospero and the awesome Tartarus pattern Terminator armor from there, then yup. This is almost the same armor, except with the Thousand Sons flavor. Can you say awesome?
ts-exalted-sorcerors
Sorcery and Sorcerers!
And last but not least you have the sorcerers themselves! I'm guessing this will be the HQ choice, considering they're the Thousand Sons' equivalent of Librarians.

Ugh...I'm so tempted to just splash my money on these guys now...nooo!!! But I don't have the cash! Ugh! What should I do?! Well, I'll definitely get the book and review their rules for you guys, so don't worry about that! And I might eventually buy the Ahriman novels (though I'll probably complete the Gaunt's Ghosts collection before I get those) so we'll have more Thousand Sons lore to talk about on this pathetic blog of mine. For the Emperor!

Uh...okay, I can still pretend that some of the Thousand Sons are loyal to the Emperor, can't I? ...can't I?

Wrath of Magnus

Vengeance for Prospero has come!

The saga ends 26th November, and Magnus and The Thousand Sons will descend upon Fenris and raze it to the ground! Vengeance for Prospero! Serve you Space Puppies right for burning Prospero for NO GOOD REASON! May you howl at the funeral pyre of your world!

Also seems like Magnus and Ahriman have reconciled somewhat, even though the latter is supposed to be exiled. Might be an interesting reunion, and we get to see Rubric Marines! Awesome!

Oh, and Faeit 212 has posted some amazing images of Thousand Sons boxes, including Ahriman and Magnus. We're finally getting plastic models for Rubric Marines! Awesome!

If I were back in Singapore, I'll certainly save up and purchase the whole lot of them to build a Thousand Sons army, but alas, I'm stuck in Minnesota, with no money and no convenient mode of transport to Tower Games or any wargaming shop, so...too bad for me. Ugh. Oh well. I'll try to get the book and keep you updated on the lore, the formations and the Thousand Sons detachment (you know, the super-detachment with the core, command and auxiliaries). Even if I don't have the money or mode of transport, I will keep in touch with Warhammer 40K and do my best to update you guys on my favorite factions!

Amazing, isn't it? The Warzone Fenris saga will finally be coming to a close in November, and we shall witness the fall of Fenris! Muahahaha! Serve you right! We'll get back at you for what you did in Prospero! Justice will be served!

Okay, I'm getting further away from the Emperor's light. I need to find a way to reconcile Thousand Sons with the Emperor and lead them away from Chaos. Not that it'll work canonically, but whatever.

17 minutes of Space Hulk: Deathwing gameplay footage

As promised, here is the link to the 17 minutes of Space Hulk: Deathwing gameplay footage! That's the Facebook pace, but I've also included the Youtube video from Focus Home Interactive's channel below. Watch wherever you desire!

Enjoy yourself! I know I will be...soon. I haven't watched it yet (at the time of this post) because I'm in school right now, but once I return home from campus, I'll watch it. Yeah, it's hard being a Warhammer 40K fan and a graduate student at the same time (I'll manage). Anyway, I can't wait to see what they have in store for us, and I hope you guys enjoy the video! This might help you decide whether you want to pre-order the game or not.

I mean, come on, people have been crying for a gameplay video and they've finally given it to us, so let's make full use of it!

Space Hulk Deathwing Devblog

I'm kicking myself for not having seen this sooner. Ugh. Anyway, in the same Facebook page that I just posted an hour ago about 17-minute gameplay video, there is a new update in the devblog. Whoops!

Anyway, you can read the whole devblog post here.

So what is this new devblog update about? Apparently it gives more details on the solo campaign and the psyker powers available to you as a libarian! The four difficulty modes for solo campagin are as follows:

  • Disciple (Easy) – The Emperor protects you from the Xenos.
  • Chapter Champion (Normal) – You’re used to life on the battlefield.
  • Lion’s Sword (Hard) – What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.
  • No Mercy (Hardest) – To die for the emperor is glorious!
So yeah. I'll probably try No Mercy, or at least Lion's Sword. Dude...don't ask why, I'm the masochistic bastard who whined and screamed my way playing the Master difficulty in Titanfall 2. Ugh, it was so frustrating. Maybe I'll just play Lion's Sword because the difficulty is sometimes more frustrating and cheap than it is difficult. We shall see.

There's also a list of psyker powers avalable to you as a librarian.

  • Shockwave - Releases a flow of energy around the Librarian, pushing back and hurting the enemies in a 360-degree arc.
  • Chain Lightning - Lightning strikes the first enemy it hits. Turrets and sentries are particularly susceptible to this power.
  • Inferno - The Librarian draws his powers to create an image of vengeful flame, carbonising all enemies in a line in front of him.
  • Spontaneous combustion – Causes an enemy to explode, creating a damaging flame blast around them.
  • Vortex of doom - The Librarian tears the veil of reality; victims near the vortex are pulverised by the power of the warp.
  • Lion’s Shadow - The Librarian teleports himself inside an enemy, before exploding out of them.
  • Lion’s Nemesis - The Librarian uses his mighty powers to become a fearsome Zealot. Just one hit can slay any normal enemy.
So what are you waiting for? Pre-order Space Hulk: Deathwing today and get a 15% discount and a free weapon! Or you can wait for the 17-minute gameplay video today and make your decision after that (might actually be wiser to do that). Up to you.

Anyway, I'll update you with more news when I see the video. For the Emperor!

By the way, sorry about the lack of updates about everything else. Thanks to my situation, I can't exactly play the tabletop game any longer, but I will keep an eye out on Thousand Sons and stuff. I'm not exactly a rumor blog, so if you want more detailed news and such, I suggest you follow Natfka and his Faeit 212 blog! This is more of a personal blog (and I doubt I have any visitors here anyway).

Space Hulk Deathwing announcement

I just got back from campus, and I saw this on the Space Hulk Deathwing's Facebook page.

"17 minutes of uncut gameplay footage from Space Hulk: Deathwing's solo campaign are coming tomorrow! Glory to the Emperor!"

So, yeah, look forward to it! I'll write a post on it once the video is up, hoo-rah! FOR THE EMPEROR!

Space Hulk: Deathwing Devblog

The official Space Hulk: Deathwing Facebook page has posted a new devblog entry today, titled, "To Battle, Brothers!"

Basically, the Devblog releases details and tips about the game, and one of the post promises to release a gameplay trailer featuring a co-op mission, so look forward to it!

Get ready, because the game launches on December 9! Pre-order it and get a discount and free exclusive weapon (which isn't necessary, I'm only pre-ordering it for the discount), and fight beside your battle brothers in Terminator armor with the best weapons the Dark Angels treasury has to offer!

Space Hulk: Deathwing

Look! A new Space Hulk: Deathwing trailer!

Nothing new, it says the same as always, and tells us what we already know. The only noteworthy addition is Chapter Master Belial at the beginning, but it seems we already know he's in charge. Everything else is a repeat of what we've heard so far, from the swarm AI, the weapons we'll be handling, Gavin Thorpe from Black Library writing the story for easter eggs and twists, etc. So nothing new. But hey, at least we get to see more Space Hulk: Deathwing!

The big news that the trailer (unfortunately) fails to mention is that there will be a Beta! That's right. All those dudes who pre-ordered, like me, we have a Beta! Click here to read the news in Steam itself! Enjoy yourself!

Kingsblade from Black Library

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been busy. Graduate school and all that, plus I have no money for the Burning of Prospero set, or I will be all over it. Thousand Sons was my favorite pre-Heresy Legion, after all.

However, this was something that caught my eye. Black Library has announced a list of books that are "coming soon", and one of the books due to be released in February is something I am really looking forward to.

Yup. Kingsblade by Andy Clark. It's one of the very few Imperial Knights novel (the first and only so far has been written by Graham McNeill, Knights of the Imperium, which I have already written a review for on this blog), so I am looking forward to getting my hands on it. It's not up for pre-order, but I do have a Remind Me option to remind me of the book's release in February next year. I can't wait!

It's an Imperial Knights novel, and the details on the Black Library website are as follows:

When a tragedy occurs and an Imperial retribution force is shattered, two young Imperial Knight pilots must work together and learn the ways of war if they – or the world of Donatos – are to survive.

The Knight Houses of Adrastapol are both noble and righteous, and when the Imperial world of Donatos falls to the heresy of the Word Bearers, they are foremost in the vanguard to retake it. Led by High King Tolwyn Draconis, the Knights are peerless in battle and strike deep into the enemy’s ranks. But the war soon turns when a terrible tragedy strikes, casting the Imperial campaign into anarchy. As desperation grows, unblooded Knights Errant Danial and Luk must quickly learn the ways of war to prevent an unholy ritual or Donatos will be lost and all the noble Houses of Adrastapol with it.

YAY! At long last, we're getting an Imperial Knights novel (c'mon, Knights of the Imperium can only be counted as a short novella at best)! Praise the Emperor! You can take a closer look on the Black Library website!

Oh, and there's also The Devine Adoratrice by Graham McNeill, which is a short story set in the Horus Heresy series regarding House Devine and the Knight Raeven Devine. It's a prequel to Vengful Spirit, so to be honest, I'm not very excited about this one because I didn't really like Vengeful Spirit. I didn't read the whole book (I will eventually when I have the money, but I basically skimmed through it in the bookstore, and honestly...it was a mess. Too many characters, too many things happening all at once, overused conspiracy cliches and ugh...a messy plot) so I can't write a fair review about it, but from what I read, I wasn't very fond of it. You can check the details of The Devine Adoratrice again on its specific Black Library webpage.

As an aside, please visit the Regimental Standard for your weekly dose of Guardsmen news. This time they have a hilarious article regarding the Sisters of Silence. I actually burst out laughing reading this particular article, at Guardsman Perkins's expense. That's how funny it is. Read it, I assure you it's worth it. Otherwise, I'll use my Commissariat authority to summarily punish you.
